The Cat Cafe

Cats, who doesn't love them? (my mum) I am a cat lover, dog lover, rabbit lover, hamster lover and a lover of all other animals. So, going to the cat cafe and being surrounded by 15 cats of various species has definitely been on the top of my bucket list. I FINALLY ticked that off my bucket list as I went to the Cat Cafe located at Victoria Street in Bugis, just beside Bugis Street. All the 15 cats are either adopted or stray cats that are re-homed and have made it here in the cafe. You can find out more about each cat here.

The entry fee is $15 with a free complimentary soft drink. I really liked the fact that we do not have a time limit in the cafe, I didn't have to worry about coming at a time where the cats are asleep and I don't get to play with the cats due to a time limit (that'd be sad, really really sad.). The environment is very comfortable and it almost feels like home. All the shelves on the walls and furniture are also specially for cats. These agile felines tend to jump on the shelves and there was one cat who managed to get on to the top where there is this wooden/ plastic walkway suspended from the ceiling for them to walk. (*frantically looks for a picture for better understanding*)

Pretty cool huh!

When I first got there, most of the cats were sleeping. That was around 12 noon when the cats had just finished their breakfast and are resting. I'm suddenly envious of their life. Eat and sleep, what a luxury! I actually had my lunch there while waiting for the cats to wake up and finally play with me. I didn't explore much with the menu, but I probably would next time if I want to go cafe hopping (that got a priority spot on my bucket list too by the way). So I got myself a simple baked macaroni with mushroom and cheese. It also comes with chips on the side too.

At around 2, the cats started to become more active and were roaming around the cafe. For all those that are afraid of cats or animals in general and want to learn to interact with them, this is a great place to get started. The cats here are all very tamed and definitely not aggressive - that's provided you follow the rules (no carrying of the cats etc.) It was really fun playing with the cats and a lot of the time, I was running around the cafe, trying to get good shots of the cats, so they are probably really really annoyed by me (cat: this stupid human wouldn't leave me alone. What is she, 5?). But it was worth it and I regretted not bringing a DSLR or a portable charger because my phone died halfway.

All the cats have insanely cute names ( Butter, Yogurt, Cookie, Tuxedo etc. you get the picture ) and they all very well fed too, in fact I was really impressed by how well they were taken care of. One of the more popular cats was a cat named Butter. Not sure why it was named Butter because its fur colour was no where near the colour of butter but it was so adorable although it didn't seem very interested in me.

But, my favourite cat of all (which I realised was also very popular among many of the customers) is Tuxedo, the black cat with a white patch around its neck area. I think it also wasn't interested in me but it was so beautiful and sophisticated-looking. I guess it was called tuxedo because of its fur that makes it look like it is wearing a tuxedo. It just looks so majestic, I mean if this cat was a Pokemon, it's probably like a legendary type or something.

Also, I really like this photo I took of Yogurt.

She (I'm assuming) looks exactly like me at home.

We also got to witness the so called "feeding time" when the cats had their lunch. It was so cute when all the cats gathered together, trying to get their serving first. All of them then spread out obediently to eat their food. Really reminded of kindergarten children and their innocence, following the teacher's every command, now we're pretty much full-time rebels.

I was actually really impressed by how the staff was able to control the kids that went there too. One thing to note was that what makes this cafe different from some other cat cafes out there is that they allow all ages to enter the cafe - including kids. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate kids (sort of), but you'd expect them to like overly-excited seeing so many cats at once and.. you all know what happens next right. So there was this girl that was running to every single cat, poking on them or I would say physically harassing and waving some cat toy at them. A staff immediately went to her and explained to her why it was incorrect to do so. That was really nice of her, I mean anyone who knows me well would know that that kid would be so done if I was the staff. I guess the job isn't for everyone.

Overall, I really enjoyed my time here at the Cat Cafe. I really recommend everyone to visit this place at least once because it was really worthwhile and it is not everyday you get surrounded by little fluffy creatures walking around in a small room right? The service was also really good and the staff were all really friendly and knowledgable. I kind of bombarded one of the staff with questions (if you're reading this, thank you for taking the time to answer them) but she was patient and she gave very insightful answers as well.

Hope you enjoyed reading my blog and do look out for more posts! Have a great day xx
